I'm not sure anybody knows how this can be solved, but I am having problems with my connection. My connection will be active for hours, and then it will just disconnect, also for hours at a time. No amount of PC or modem restart, reboot, etc, gets me reconnected. Telkom seems to think it has something to do with my modem, its a Microcom ADSL Deskporte USB modem. I have done a google search trying to see if anyone else has reported any problems with the modem, with no luck. I have also installed the latest driver upgrade, which hasn't solved it either. Could someone tell me whether its just Telkom trying to pass the buck, or if its really my modem and if so, how I can fix it.

The only way to be diagnose for sure whether its the actual router is to try to borrow a friends and see whether the situation repeats itself.

You may also wish to bypass any lightning protectors you are using as well as the filters to see whether that makes a difference ...

Try leaving the modem switched off for 10 minutes and then switch it on again and try reconnect.

Does the Microporte have an ICASA approved sticker on the box or the modem itself ???.
If the modem is ICASA approved then Telkom has no leg to stand on.
