My router syncs fine but there's no internet connectivity. Line was dead on Sunday morning, Monday morning and Tuesday morning. Since yesterday I can't connect to the internet at all. Any ideas? I've reported it to Telkom.

I can access telkom.co.za but nothing else.

If it syncs, but has no throughput then the issue is with your ISP.

Same issue on my Telkom and Afrihost accounts. Line is over a year old and only started giving me issues on Sunday morning.

Router has reset to factory defaults with the username "guest@telkomadsl" and the password "guest". You need to login to the router and re-enter your username and password.

That is if as you say you are able to access telkom.co.za

I had this exact same issue.

Nope, using valid username/password.

Oh, OK. Weird that you can only get to telkom.co.za then.

Have you called 10210 and asked them to re-create the port?

Yes, called yesterday and they couldn't figure it out after recreating the port. Very weird problem indeed.

Can also access saix.net. Screenshot of my router's status page...

It looks like you are part way through a 20/40Mb line speed upgrade. Your 15Mb downstream sync suggests this.

If you are migrating to 20 Mb ADSL2+ then your D-Link router will suffice.

If you are migrating to 20/40 Mb VDSL2 then you need to get a VDSL capable router

If this is the case then your next step will be to go here:

https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/ADSLVERIFY_NEW

and put in your order / order confirmation number. You can get this by phoning the Telkom call centre.

Once this is done you need to restart your router and then re-sync with the exchange. If the verify step was successful, then you will sync at your new line speed of 20/40 Mb (provided your router is capable) and you will be able to connect to the internet again. If I remember correctly the time between the clicking on the verify button and the exchange sorting its end it can take up to an hour.

If you have not ordered a speed upgrade, then dunno, sorry.

Finally resolved!

Applied for VDSL in early October, got the 'upgrade completed' text 4 days later but the actual upgrade took place on Wednesday. After speaking to 5+ clueless CC agents a gent by the name of Thulani figured it out. This guy was brilliant! He saw something others didn't bother looking at. I then bought a VDSL modem this morning and after my verification failed spoke to an awesome lady by the name of Itumeleng who resolved the verification problem and restored my internet :)

Thanks Itumeleng and Thulani. Telkom should only employ super people like you! :)

TelkomZA never replied to my PM's or contacted me. TelkomZA on Twitter blamed the issue on my usage claiming I'd used 217GB on my 50GB account. The usage tracking tool and email showed 59% usage for October.

Anyway, happy to have working internet again.
