ADSL connection dropping out

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone else is having issues with their connection recently but since having a new line installed 2 weeks ago I am being disconnected about 10 - 15 times per day. To get back on line I have to reset the router.

I have spoken to the unless tech support at Telscum who insist that their line is ok. I have also spoken to my ISP, Cybersmart, who have informed me that I'm being disconnected because of a port error. They stated that they have had around 100 of their clients report this fault over the past 10 days and they seem to think that it is a problem with the new IP range that Telscum have released 41.234.xxx.xxx.

Any info would be appreciated.

what does your router log say? sounds like you're having sync losses.

sync losses are a lot like cancer - CAN be cured but it's a mission :)

I had this and in the end it turned out to be very old telephone wallboxes in my house, had a technician over to replace them with newer RJ-11 boxes and haven't had a sync-loss since.

As far as it having something to do with the new IP range - that is a load of tripe and I'd think about changing ISP's if they're saying crap like that!
 
I have had the same problem the last couple of days. It however cannot be the wall boxes as they are new. It only happens when i login using my Telkom account. If i use my Webafrica IS account, it as stable as can be.
 
I am experiencing the same problem - phoned Telkom, listened to all 9 of Beethoven's symphonies before someone answered my call only to be informed that the problem will continue to occur because I am not using Telkom equipment. (I also have new boxes in my house).
 
same here. i cant do anything. it keeps dropping out...
 
I've also been recently having problems. I phoned Telkom and they came to my house, afterwards it seemed fine.

I have the same problem. I've got it with the new Combo Premium Telkom wireless router. Telkom came out and 'fixed' the line but the wireless router still drop/doesn't sync all day long. I've tested a USB modem and very old pots router and they don't seem to have a problem. The Telkom tech told me that the wirless router seems to be more sensitive than the USB modem so I assume there is something that the wireless doesn't like on on the line.
Also if it does connect and I go into the web interface for the wirless router and look at the traffic stats, I see there are tons of bad packets in the incoming traffic. I've have the Premium Combo modem swapped out by Telkom twice so I assume that they have a problem with these routers.
 
lol. i called my isp and they said that my line dropped 42 times today since and its 2pm...

so i reported the fault to telkom. how long does it take the dude to come out and fix the line ? is there anyway of makin this process quicker ?
 
Yeah, have a friend who's a telkom techie.
Or make sure everyone in ur area arent having problems...though both these process will be pretty hard to do :P

So just hope ur lucky and wait....
