ADSL connection issues - Somerset West

I had this problem before, but it is back and way worse this time. My connection + a lot of people in my surrounding area gets disconnected from ADSL exactly every 300 seconds for the last 3-4 days. Logged multiple calls at Telkom, nothing done.

As you can see from my IRC connect, which doesn't always drop. Still an estimate how often the connection dies. And this has been going on for 4 days now.

Same problem here. Also Somerset West.

This issue is still going on, i've spoken to a #$%^ load of ADSL users (companies, individuals) in Somerset West, most of them have complaint at Telkom.

Guess what?, they doing jack about it.

Just talked to Telkom ADSL guy and he agrees with me.

We can't get to the DNS servers.

I'm in stellenbosch, and all the saix dns servers I can't ping. He gave me a few that I can ping but once I set them in the modem I have to reconnect to use them, and then when I do, it gets new ones automatically.

Don't know when this will be sorted out.

Solution

Use these DNS servers on your own network connection.

196.25.255.34 and 196.25.255.3

Works for me.

I'm in JHB, unshaped account/axxess.

Also been having problems since Saturday evening, browsing is working now, but can't connect to Guild Wars servers?

My DNS is setup as you suggested tertius, but still nothing?

Any other gamers having issues connecting to Guild Wars?

This wasn't a guildwars problem. More of a general "can't do anything except connect to IPs" problem.
