Hi. I really hope someone out there can help. This is driving me spare.

My ADSL router is setup on my server. When I connect from a workstation, everything works fine for about 5 mins. I can connect, browse mail etc. Then, for no apparent reason, my browser is unable to connect. I can't mail, browse anything. Its as if it loses the connection. BUT the strange thing is that I can still ping (and resolve) the websites, so connectivity is still there.

Another 5 mins later, (and hitting refesh about 50times) and suddenly I can browse again. (Or if I log off and log on again with the workstation)

Anyone out there have any ideas at all?

thanks in advance

Roddy

Could you prehaps tell us more information about your network setup. OS? Software? Gateway software? ADSL Modem/Router?

Its a small network. Running small business server 2003 standard. Workstation running XP sp2. All updates, latest drivers etc are installed.
The ADSL modem is the one from Telkom. Its the old Marconi one. I have swopped this out once, and have just tried my one from home that i know works.

I've got the ADSL router running on its own network card on the server.

thanks

OK. I just figured it out. There was a process called fukerz running on my workstations. No-one seems to know what it is and anti-virus software does not pick it up. Typing into Google gives some answer about spy-ware etc, but still not very clear. Anyhoo, if you have a similar problem, look for the fukerz process. (also runs keyhook.exe and another randomly generated string)

Get yourself a copy of AdAware Personal (www.lavasoft.de), that might find those spyware

Spybot Search and Destroy is also a good option.

:o)
