Hi,

I am currently overseas (France) where I have to work now and then. It made sense for me to have ADSL 128kbps installed, for under 20E/mo (<u>all inclusive</u>, i.e. line rental + ISP) compared to over R800/mo in CT.

Secondly, the nominal 128kbps actually delivers... 353kbps! How about that?

So the question is: are we all cross-subsidising new lines in rural areas, or is this just a plain rip-off to please shareholders?

Well, the deeper we dig, the more evidence we see that it is simply a profit making ripoff.

Telkom is here to make money...and thats fine, we all need to make a living....but there is right and there is wrong and Telkom has stepped over that line in a big way.

It is my policy to be willing to pay for quality, but Telkom's ADSL falls far, far short of a quality service. I think 99% of us would gladly pay their ridiculous prices (only due to the lack of an alternative at this time) if only we felt that their service was up to worldwide standards.
