ADSL costs in Germany

Hi,

in Germany they also use the "double costing" rate system for ADSL where one has to pay for the line ("backbone") and ISP separately.

I guess that most on the list is German illiterates. I'm not a German fundi, but this is what I deduce from the page.

For a 1MB/s line one would pay E16.99 (about R130) per month to the Telco.

There are many ISP options.

One comparative to the Telkom 3GB/month is the Congster DSL 4000 MB package at E6,99 (about R60) per month including 4 GB of data. The pricing ranges tremendously for similar packages, so I guess the quality of service is quite variable.

But, this is far less than Telkom charges.

I am German and before I left for South Africa I had a 39.95 E = (312 Rand) subscription with Arcor 3000/384 with uncapped e.g. true flatrate. That was the cheapiest piece I could find.
