Ok, so a game I have been waiting for was made available for download today. It is around 210MB. I was disconnected on three seperate occasions while downloading this game.

Disconnection one: Download was on +- 185MB
Disconnection two: Download was on +- 120MB
Disconnection three: Download was on +- 65MB

On my fourth attempt, my download was successful. Thus I have now used 580MB of bandwidth for something that should have only used 210MB.

Just another reason why I hate Telkom.

You sure it was not the webserver you were d/l from and not Telkom connection ???.
Also why not use a download manager which can resume ???.

good point... I should be using a download manager of somesort. The ADSL line definately cut out completely as I could not browse, send / receive email, ftp, etc.

<rant>Im just peeved that after a smallish download, 20% of my allocated bandwidth has just vapourised. I hate the 3GB cap...</rant>

Dap

I use DAP . Download Accelerator Plus.

One would think nowadays with products like ADSL, who would need a Download Manager?
Problem is if you are halfway with a big file and the ADSL IP is reset by Telkom, you will have to start all over again. And to boot the Usage is all part of the 3 gig cap.

Don’t even bother complaining to Telkom.
They know that using Dynamic IP's creates these issues.

Just make sure when downloading from slow sites or downloading any large files to use a Download Manager.

Awesome! Thanks for the link...

My stress levels always increase when reporting a fault to Telkom. They [Telkom] also tend to come check the fault when you are off on an important meeting / errand ;p

Thanks for the help...

You can take Telkom out of the Post Office but you can't take the Post Office out of Telkom.

LOL
