I seem to have this weird problem with my ADSL line.

I am on a 4meg line. During the day the router synchs just fine at 4096kbps but as soon as it hits about 5/6pm the connection will begin to deterioate, sometimes going as low as 640kbps!!!! This is bloody strange and highly irritating as I use the net the most in the evenings. When I reconnect the following morning the line will synch at 4096kbps again.

Anyone else expierenced this problem before?

Never heard of it, what does telscum say? ;)

Resynching and disconnects

There are many postings in various threads discussing this problem. It appears to be a relatively new problem.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for some enterprising forumite to create a route map to the threads concerned.

I get disconnected often at night but normally my router reconnects fine at 4mb.

The only thing I can thing of is at night most people log on to the net, dialup users dial in and ADSL users are home from work/school..using the net playing games etc. So its either the exchange/line or the ISP that cannot handle the influx of people. Thats the only thing that makes sense. Something, somewhere cannot handle the extra people who use the net at night.

No-idea whats the problem or why for sure, but it makes sense. If it is the case where the infrastructure cannot handle all the people...then good luck trying to get Telkom to upgrade what needs to be upgraded.

yeah its bloody irritating though....lol my SNR is pretty low too (about 8db) while line attenuation is 35. I am only about 1km from the exchange. Prolly old freaking lines and equipment in the area. That will never be upgraded.
