Does anyone experience this? My ADSL connection (on both computers connecting independently) disconnects about every 5 minutes. It must be Telkom ... it happens on both pc's simultaneously.
While playing Counter-Strike:Source clanmatches lately (say, for the past 4 or so days) every 5 minutes my adsl will completely lose sync or something and i wont be able to send/receive any data for about 10-20 seconds (connection itself doesnt drop). Really annoying as it constantly gets me killed.
Dont know if thats the same issue as you.
I'm on DSL512 (connected at 640/384 to the exchange according to my telkom marconi ethernet pots bull**** modem).
I live in Roodepoort (helderkruin/wilro park) West Rand jhb...
I used to have the same problem last year, it was caused by Telkom that did something to ADSL to make the router incompatible. D-Link then swapped out my router for a newer model, but only because I bought the router 2 weeks before the incident.
Modem keeps the synch but looses the Internet connection.
If you live in the Northgate area and are connected to the honeydew exchange.
They are having problems with the exchange and the dslams, report the fault and make them aware of the problem. I picked up the problem immediately since my pc is connected 24/7 for info services purposes.
Only after 4 days did enough ppl complain for them to realise there was a bigger problem than just me. (They kept on trying to blame my modem)
I'm currently experiencing issues with packetloss. The strange thing for me is that it seems to be a problem between my router and the exchange. The router however does not report that the connection has been dropped.
are your routers 'routing' or 'bridging'? bridge = you dial-up to dsl through windows, you're not automatically connected as you turn your pc on. bridging = much more stable connection.
Hi guys. My problem was solved, and it was not Telkom's fault. The power cable to my network switch (for the two pc's) was stuck in a wheel of my computer stand, and each time it moves a littlebit the switch power disconnects for a moment but is OK at other times.
It may sound stupid, but the fault was not easy to detect!!
