So as I'm sure many are aware I've been waiting almost 2 years for my ADSL. In January I finally got totally fed up and just went on a mailing spree.
I sent registered letters to the CEO, COO, Head of CC, Media Relations Officer etc. as well as delivering copies of the letter personally to 3 Telkom stores marked for the managers attention. Then I went through this forum and took basically every email address I could find for someone at telkom and e-mailed them copies of the letter as well. I must say that doing all this actually got a response and Telkom didn't stop calling me daily for about two weeks.
They came to install the service on the 31st of Jan at which stage it couldn't be completed and they only succeed in getting my telephone to stop working as well. I just continued calling them daily from that point onwards, 10219 as well as the people that were so kind as to respond to my letters.
The sequence of events after that is as follows per the smses I've received:
SMS 12/02/08 07:53-ADSL line waiting for Project office to update systems so that we can do the re run of the jumpering at the exchange
SMS 12/02/08 09:14-ADSL line installation date received for 20/02/08
SMS 19/02/08 09:12-Dear customer, Fault XXXX has been created for service ID XXXX. Telkom will endeavor to resolve the problem ASAP.
CALL 19/02/08 13:24-Confirming installation date of 20/02/08 and to make sure of details on account
SMS 20/02/08 09:12-Dear Customer. Progress update from Telkom. We are still working to resolve fault XXXX for service ID XXXX.
SMS 20/02/08 13:44-ADSL Abrahim dispatched on this order.
Now, currently I'm wondering if I should get my hopes up that by the time I get home tonight my modem will be synched or if on the flip side I should just start writing a new letter to the same people as before and repeat the process.
Could anyone who has gone through a self install and received similar correspondence possibly comment if the work was actually completed at any stage?
