adsl down in Gordons Bay

Is anyone else having problems with ADSL in gordons bay? Mine has been down since this afternoon. I have been holding for 30 minutes now waiting to log a call. Will probably wait for another 3 hours.
 
Yep, was the same for me yesterday. Neighbors next door's Wireless connection was also Down. In Strand I also heard of 1 ADSL line that was acting up. Fixed this morning though.

But there I sat yesterday on the phone with Telkom - for over an hour. Then this dude answers. He sounds like someone is Forcing him to work - like he does not Want to work or something. Anyways, he does not see any problems with the DSLAM or anything. You sure? Yes. No problems reported & active traffic on the DSLAM? Yes. Riiight. :mad:

I could not even get on the Internet because of battery problems with my cellphone :(

Bastards. When I logged the call, the guy told me that there is indeed something wrong with the DSLAM. No traffic through it since 15:10 in the afternoon. Asking himif anyone else has logged a call, he says that I am first one. Goes to show!

I only got home after 5PM. I saw the ADSL died round about that time yes (logs). This dude I had a chat with, was the most Useless one I have ever had the dis-pleasure to talk to.

But wow, this DSLAM of ours just keeps on doing this every few months - Can't they just Fix it properly?

And another thing. Why don't they have a small script running somewhere that just checks out the DSLAM traffic? I mean, there will always be Some traffic on the DSLAM at ALL times, no?
No Traffic for past X minutes -> Problem with DSLAM -> Auto Report Problem -> Send out Tech to FIX IT -> Done
Too hardcore for Telkom I guess :rolleyes:

The power was off just now for 45minutes...weird hey?

It went bye-bye at about 01:42 this morning. Called Telkom.
The dude that answered this time was great. He knew exactly what he was doing. He even asked me if I had any problems connecting just after 18:00 yesterday because he can see there was a Drastic change in the amount of traffic on the DSLAM just about then (Just as the Power went bye-bye). Fault Reported.

Did you guys hear about the House that burnt down, just as the power got back on, at about 18:45 yesterday?
 
Yep outage started at 01:45. Calling adsl helpline now. Did not hear about house burning down though. That sucks piles. Wonder if you can sue Eishkom when that happens?
 
Logged call with a nice helpfull lady. Told me that they know about problem and that techies are working on it currently. Lets see how long it takes.

Yea it does. I'll upload a pic or two tonight. But Thus far no-one (me) knows what caused it. Would suck if it was indeed Eskom's Fault! :eek:

They better know about it!, I did not wait in line for 14 seconds in the early hours of the morning for nothing! :p

[-]I am in Stellenbosch at the moment so I won't even know when they have fixed this. But they will probably call me again to find out if my line is working or not.[/-]

Why do need the internet when you have the sea?:D Go learn to surf or fish or tan or...:confused:

We need The Internet to :
-find out the weather in Gordons Bay for tomorrow
-find How To videos on stuff like Surfing, catching fish and tanning
-etc etc ;)
