Seems like the lightning yesterday did a number on telkom. Was woken up this morning to go fix a friends ADSL (runs an internet cafe). Got there to find the line had no sync. So sat on hold for 23 minutes until a techie answered the phone, logged a fault, then proceded to phone every 30 mins (well, make that 50 seeing as each call took 20+ minutes to be answered) to find out what the situation was (an internet cafe without internet isn't a very good business). Anyway, after the 4th call I asked why they always took more than 20 mins to answer. Rhaj (or something) then told me that they had 1700 adsl lines down in that area and people were still phoning in.
Hmmm..... 1700 lines in Little Falls sounds a bit exagerated, but it might not be far from the truth (couple of guys came in while I was there asking to use the internet as their lines were also down).
Anyway, first call was at 9:10 this morning. Gave up phoning at 16:00, just came back from the store (20:40) and line was still down. "Best effort" afterall, so I'm expecting them around Friday. Am I being too hopeful?
Cheers
