ADSL downgrade procedure?

Nope, the procedure is to phone iBurst :-))

/me puts on flameproof suit! - just joking! From the forums it seems as if iBurst is improving its service.

If you cancel your existing ADSL & reapply for HomeDSL192 you would probably be charged the R404 ADSL Installation fee again...

To be honest you should just stick with HomeDSL384 bcos you'd probably end up upgrading again from HomeDSL192 to HomeDSL384 when you realise how much slower HomeDSL192 is.

Conclusion: don't downgrade - not worth it for ~R100/month difference... I still advise that people getting ADSL for the 1st time should start with the cheapest option, i.e. HomeDSL192 and then upgrade later when they need more speed.

Once your line has been converted to an ADSL line Telkom charges for downgrades, they do no charge you to upgrade your line. Well that is at least what they told me when I signed up for HomeDSL384.

I does make a bit of sense as Telkom will be loosing the difference from your slightly higher subscription.

I agree it makes total sense when you look at it from Telkomonopoly's POV - the goal is to maximize profits by ripping-off everyone & overcharging. From a consumer POV it is unnecessary considering the over-inflated price being charged already for everything by Telkomonopoly.

Adlo, getting 192k wont give you 192k either, u will most likely get around 128k speeds as soon as telkom finalise the adjustments.

# Estimated line speed: 328.9 (kilobits/second)
This is not 384K!
I should then only be paying for a 328.9K line.

I think it was you who made a jokey comment when I indicated I wanted something like R100 back from Telkom for whatever reason.

Heh - the shoes on the other foot now. :)

That is actually an incredibly good speed rating for any country in the world - your getting 80% of your lines capacity !
