Hi,
I'm a bit stuck and need some advice with a problem I haven't seen before. I have a client that has been complaining about her Internet connection being slow. Now I know this is the same as "how long is a piece of string". I first made sure her local network is perfect. She's got a managed Ruckus wireless network that allows roaming throughout the house while pinging the ADSL router at less than 1ms, be that at small packet sizes. Internal video streaming is great to all WD TV Lives and AppleTV's, even when used simultaneously. Sorry, trying to sketch the whole picture here.
I then replaced the Netgear DG834 router with a DrayTek 2710. It was then that I started noticing that the download sync rate would drop down over time from the allocated 4Mb. Sometimes it will be at as low as 2Mb. The SNR (24 dB) and the Atten (46 dB) looks OK. I will then reboot the router and it will be back at 4Mb, only to start dropping down later. The rate and level to which it drops is not always the same. I have found it still at 4Mb after 2 days. However since yesterday it seems to be stuck at around 2Mb.
If been emailling and communicating with the ISP like crazy, but they just seem to drag their feet. They said they've log it with Telkom, but 3 weeks seems a bit crazy. They've also suggested using a router with a different chipset, like a TP-Link. I did try my Netgear DGN3500 router and found the same thing happening.
Any advice would really be appreciated!
Thanks!
