Okay, this subject has been beaten to death, but I'm gonna flog it some more. I'll be immigrating to the UK(thats if the Brits will have me) and I am busy investigating the costs of the more important things in life, such as broadband, food, satellite tv and then rent, in that order. :D

Here is an actual comparison of broadband costs using info from www.telkomsa.net and UK provider www.bulldogbroadband.com

Installation charges
SA- Telkom will charge you R404 installation for ADSL PLUS R200 or for you telephone line. Thats is R600+

UK. Bulldog charge you 30 pounds(R339) for a line if you do not have a telephone line. They had a special until 15 May of 1 pound(R11.30) installation if chose their telephone service and one of the ADSL packages.

The installation costs are almost double without considering the special.

The total monthly rental from Bulldog for the telephone line is 10.50 pounds(R119)

I'm not sure if you can take the ADSL package from Bulldog without the telephone. Lets assume you can't.

ADSL in South Africa dsl1024 Telkom costs 680
3gig cap unshaped ISP 340
total = R1020

ADSL in UK from Bulldog 8meg(this is the slowest) with NO CAP = 19.50 pounds at todays exchange rate of R11.30 = R220.35 + R119 = say R440

Lets analyse this. In SA, 1 meg with 3gig cap is 2.3 times more expensive than 8 meg with unlimited usage in the UK.

Okay, we are never going to use 3gig because we don't abuse the internet(hahaha) so lets just look at the speed. The package in SA is actually 2.3 * 8 times more expensive, i.e. 18.4 times more expensive.

oh, I forgot to add. no 8hour or 24 hour connection reset by bulldog. So for all you WoW players that means no reset while your in an instance

Tell us something we don't know...or are u trying to piss us off even more?

Do a bit of searching on Bulldog. From what I recall they are one of the sh!ty uk isps with lots of unhappy customers and investigations by their local version of 'icasa'.

Rather go with one of the others. My brother has cable over there with a speed that will make the average sa guys head spin.

I looked at www.adslguide.org.uk

For gaming they recommend bulldog, nildram. One guy recommended Aceinternet. Haven't looked at that one yet.

I don't think there is an isp on the planet that hasn't had problems. The trick is to find the one with least problems. Even that is no guarentee.
