I'm so irritated right now I figured I couldn't just sit quietly and vent at home so I'll vent on the internet.

Day 1 (Sunday 13th August):

I get back from a trip from Cape Town at about 11:30 am and drive home, on the way home I see two Telkom vans (which immediately gives me the urge to blow the hooter, but I hold back). These vans working at my local 'box' / 'dp', all I think is... please don't screw my line up.

Get home, check my email etc, all lines are up *phew*...

Later that day.. ADSL is dead! Oh dear the Telkom technicians have screwed up my line, AGAIN. I wait patiently hoping it will fix itself, this was a mistake.

So I pickup my phone to report the ADSL fault...oh dear, no dial tone phone is completely dead. Great now I have to call on my cell phone to report this fault at my cost. Fault is reported at just after midnight. Reference number: 1AEK140806

Day 2:

No news from Telkom, no way am I holding on for 30 minutes on my cell phone to get fault status. After 4pm I am getting extremely irritated, I phone a friend and ask him to use his land line to find out what the hell is going on.

He phones, oh no Telkom need to phone me to see if its OK to dispatch a technician, well why didn't they just phone me!! Technician is ordered to dispatch, maybe today, but not..

Day 3:

10am in the morning a Telkom techie arrives, I tell him, those other Telkom guys probably screwed it up and showed him where they were working. I wait and I wait...He comes back about 2 hours later, phone is still dead. "No joy" he says, he can't get access to the pole where my interconnection is, its on someone else's property. They are going to dispatch a standby technician 'tonight', 17:30 a man called Kobus arrives.

Kobus says: "OK I'm going up the road to have a look.." I think to myself my phone is finally going to be fixed. WRONG. I wait, and I wait, till about 7pm so I take a drive up the road, nowhere to be seen Kobus as just upped and left without informing me at all, I try all the numbers I have gathered over the past 3 days and nobody will even pick up their phone (various cell phones and land lines).

Day 4 (Today):

I phone, but to get them to pick up I have to #31# (private number) myself! Finally I get through and then its ummms and aaaahs, And thats where it stays, 4 days later my phone is still disconnected, I run a business from home so no access for my staff for the 3rd working day now.

Does anyone with legaleeze know if I have any chance of sueing these bastards because I am losing my mind.

If you have a land line and don't mind Telkom's music phone 0800 375 375, press 3 then reference number 1AEK140806 and BITCH AT THEM.

Same story here, my DSL connection is working fine but my voice service is down. This have been the case since last week Thursday. They did phone today to dispatch a techie. Let see what happens. This is the longest I have waited for a problem to be fixed.

The main problem seems to be a shortage of technicians or a huge backlog on faults throughout Gauteng.

My DSL was down for 33 days before it got fixed. Granted, this was during the Teklom strike, but good luck.

you have no chance sueing them its a "best effort" service, there are no guarentees, what i do suggest, get a 270mb Iburst connection as backup. its about R170pm and you will only use it when the adsl goes down for long times like this.

If you have a land line and don't mind Telkom's music phone 0800 375 375, press 3 then reference number 1AEK140806 and BITCH AT THEM.

i will be back here at about 2pm, let us know if its been sorted by then, if not i will call them and give them a peace of my mind....
