ADSL Frustration (Resolved)

The service levels in SA have got me up the walls. I'm with BudgetADSL and I'm fast becoming fed-up with their lacklustre way of doing things. First I had to keep mailing them just to get my e-mail address set up, then I had to mail them to get them to charge me R225 like their site says instead of the R229 they originally asked. When International was down I asked them what was going on to which they responded that they'd send out a notice to all their customers, which they never did. They keep ignoring e-mails, even if its simple questions (I had to figure out how to change my mail password on my own for example)... getting a response out of them is an excercise in frustration.

Now I'm capped. So I was thinking of getting one of those 2GB lite accounts just to last me till the end of the month. Once again I can't get them to respond! I want to give them my MONEY, but I have to practically beg them to take it. So I tried Adept who also hasn't responded. My request is simple: I just want a once-off account to last me till the end of the month.

Finally I contacted Axxess who responded immediately, but in order to join them I seem to need a fax machine as well as a printer and I have neither, besides, I don't really need 10GB I mailed them out of desperation.

I guess you get what you pay for, but this is idiotic. As soon as I find a suitable replacement (or a job) I'm changing ISP, in the case of a job Axxess will be getting all my business since they at least responded.

Maybe time for a change? I am sure if everyone that is experiencing poor service from them cancelled it would give them a wake up call. Gone are the days that there was little choice in choosing Isp's. They better put up or risk losing customers.

I got a mail with regard to the slow saix speeds. only had one issue with them and thats when somehow (no clue how) someone was using my account.

after the password change, no problems. only been with them 2 months tho.

Maybe they just don't like me. Whatever the case, I'll be switching from ISP asap, and they won't get any referrals from me.

TMoose,

Please accept my appologies, I will have this matter sorted our for you asap.

I will contact you via PM.

You have no access to a printer or fax machine what so ever?

Thats kinda sad, after all its how 99% of the world does business so I suggest you get one .

I don't do business. All I have is my computer. I'm just an average home user. I don't even know anybody who has a fax, except at work.

Thanks for the PM. I've responded.

Thanks a lot to WickedWeasel and BudgetADSL for resolving this problem. Not only do I have a new account now, but it only took like 5 mins to get, its a 3GB instead of 2 AND its free! Now that's what I call service.

Mods can delete this thread if they want as all my problems have been resolved. Amazing what speaking to the right people can do :)

Tmoose - just want to join you in the grrr at fax/print stuff - surely a phonecall in advance, followed by another call telling the ISP the branch name that money has been deposited in and amount, so they can check that its 'you' - is pretty sufficient.

I mean I dont have a working stiffy drive, so do I have to waste a 700meg blank cd to burn a tiny pdf file, then trudge down the road to a fax/pc place, pay x amount to print out the thing+x amount to fax, seems a bit of a long way round.

As for having my own printer - euww, and use dead tree's? Thats why I got a computer in the first place - to avoid needing to make paper for anything.
Ditto re a 'fax' - thats what email is for - to replace this old fashioned idea that you actually have a piece of paper to start with. I do all my invoicing via email - assemble it on pc, and hit send. No paper needed anywhere.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more man. That's one of the reasons I joined BudgetADSL in the first place, it was one of the few ISP's that actually finalised your account using only e-mail and telephone.

I feel just like you. It's 2005 for goodness sake, do we really still need thin tree slices to keep record of stuff?

Anyway, I'm just glad to have sorted my stuff out.

So WickedWeasel, will BudgetADSL be offering bigger accounts as well in the future?

Hi TMoose,

Yes, there are plans in the pipeline to release new packages, namley ones that other ISP's have on there sites (no names mentioned) We are also looking at putting in a after hours proxy service for clients so they can get some unshapped bandwidth as well as the launch of Budgethost and Budgetvoice.

Will keep you all notified :)

Ultimate Telkom Frustration

I ordered DSL192 filled in forms etc and got a reference #. I got a telkom number to call the technical dept 0800 456 786 - What dead end of repeat messages and lies. I don't believe that they have high call volumes at 6am, 7am, 8am, 10am. If they really do - it is time they employed some other people to help them answer phones.
Telkom are big on selling and grabbing your money - but slow on delivery.
