Hello there,

Ok I used to have adsl then my mother in law was abusing the house phone so i got it all cancelled: adsl and telkom line watnot..all gone!

Now I desperately need to get uncapped adsl again.
Think i'm gonna go with mweb.

I've searched and read up alot here onda forum and I just need some clarity:

telkom say:
R131 for telkom landline rental
and
R152 for ADSL line rental

then I need to speak to MWEB who will charge me what R219 for the uncapped right?

Thats R502 all in all... correct?
Why do we pay for the landline rental AND adsl line rental when all i need is the adsl line?

just trying to find out if thats the right way to do it, coz previously when I cancelled telkom i was paying R380 I think and i was getting line rental, adsl line and 1Gb access ( some closer thinigie ).
and i thort the line rental would not be 2 fold uh..

please confirm someone?

Also, am i doing the right thing? i just want to download like maybe 30Gb max a month maybe..movies, music watnot. i dont game.. yet.. :-) but yea any advise?

You need a landline to enable ADSL, not sure on the technicalities behind that.

Why not get the All inclusive package from MWEB at R349 pm (ADSL line + uncapped account bundle)

Then you pay R480pm.

Infact, www.wazzup.co.za has and uncapped, unshapped bundle for R305pm... then you would be paying R436pm...

There are no "technicalities", it's just a civilized way of theft.

It would be cheaper to the uncapped package from Mweb that includes both the ADSL line rental and the uncapped data bundle for R299pm.

Hi, I am also looking into getting this but can anybody tell me what the speed of this R400-R500 setup is. I currently have a Vodacom 3G HSDPA setup and I am pretty happe with the speed and so forth. So how will the speed compare?

R400-R500 setup (total cost) is on a 384k line... decent for browsing, light downloading and light gaming.
