ADSL Help - Line Rentals etc?

Came home to visit Family over Christmas and new years. Before leaving trying to get everyone sorted in terms of packages and all that fun stuff!

Currently my dad has his 4mb home line (Phone + ADSL) through Telkom and then ISP through Crystalweb, His work has the same but ISP is through Afrihost. I planned on putting his home ISP to Afrihost same as his company.

My question is, have they finally changed so we can get just ADSL line rental instead of phone line rental?

And if anyone has any suggestions on best options, its much appreciated.

Being out the loop for a while and trying to figure it all out.

Phone line rental is still needed for ADSL.

Why do you want to change things for him?

The main reason is everything is all over the place and I want it with 1 person.

So plan on switching lines to them as well as ISP's so he has to only worry about 1 point of contact.

Hi nakedhousee. One cannot have an ADSL line without a telephone line, ADSL runs inside the telephone line (landline). You pay your ISP for the ADSL line rental, and you pay Telkom R199 a month for telephone line rental.

Telkom as an ISP has better ADSL rates than Afrihost. You’d be far better off to move everything to Telkom themselves, then the R199 telephone line rental is included.
