I'm trying to help someone who is moving into a secure complex
get connected to the internet. Only thing is, the designated ISP
in the complex is Amobia.

Okay, so they offer a 1Mb Uncapped package for R299pm,
fair enough.

They tell me that I can purchase a Wifi Router from them for R400,
or I can buy my own. Here's where it gets interesting and I get
confused.

In the apartment, there's only a single RJ45 Ethernet port. Apparently,
this ethernet port is for both ADSL and phone.

Why I'm confused is, most ADSL Routers have RJ11 (Telephone) inputs
for ADSL and not RJ45 inputs.

I'm thinking that maybe the actual Telephone (which he's still going to get)
might answer a lot of questions.

Anyway, long story short, all I want to know is, does anyone have any idea
how exactly this works?

Thanks.

There is your answer. VOX Telecom can fix you up with a voice phone and ADSL. Quite good value

The device that VOX give you has a RJ-11 for the phone and a RJ-45 for the network cable, and also has wi-fi so you don't need a physical cable
