I was just curious, how difficult is it, and what are the steps involved in getting a phone line installed in a complex/gated community in Cape Town?

If the place is new, it will have tubes, etc for the phone so it should be easy. If it is an older place like The Rathfelder in Constantia, your application will depend on the existing infrastructure, but again this should be no problem

Just call 10210 and ask them. They are quite helpful

Depends on whether there is copper inside the complex for telkom to use or not. What goes on inside the complex is out of telkom's control/jurisdiction.

If the complex is new, the architect should have made provision for phone conduit. You are quite entitled to ask Telkom to install a line. All you have to do is notify security that they are coming and that is that.

I had a line installed in a house recently at Hemel en Aarde in Hermanus and it worked exactly like that. ADT run the security there and are very tight, but not unreasonable
