ADSL in Honkong

Translated - They get 2000x the bandwidth for the same price we pay for 512k ADSL with an uncapped account.

I guess the HK minister of telecommunications did not fell off a banana tree :-)

Translation in short........

ISP is offering 1gb/s for 1788 chinese yuan(aprox 1475 rand) p/m.
100 mgb/s 280 ( 232 rand ) p/m
10 mgb/s 133 yuan ( 110 rand) p/m

No mention of any cap. If they offer 3 gb pm,you can use your limit in 3 sec.
HMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............
Actually 24 seconds.. 1Gbps = 125MB/s.. still an acceptable speed though :D

bandwidth is cheap there but you have crap connectivity to europe & america

- out of consideration for the forum, I wont put examples of very big Chinese/Asian warez sites :)
also, Hollywood tends to release US flix in the East, slightly ahead of the rest of the globe. Not always, but a lot of the time - which is why you get those DVD copies flooding in same time as the movies appear to open, back in the West..
(this of course isnt the 15 -25% of pirated copies which people inside the movie studios themselves have leaked) ie: movie heaven in the Pacific Rim Internet.
So I dont think the apparently crap connectivity to Europe/US is going to make much of a difference, depending on what you're into :)
