Hi All,

I applied for ADSL installation in April of this year. At first there was this "project" where they would install the ports or something. I got a different (read: later) date each time I called them for a status update, and finally, i was told that the project work will be finished by the end of august.

When I phoned them today for a status update, they told me that expected service delivery is at the very end of December. Is this acceptable service from them? Isn't there some clause dealing with the maximum installation time? What can I do and how can I escalate this? Is there somebody I can phone?

Regards,
Pieter

I guess it depends which area you in.
I applied on Tuesday and got it on Friday.

My advice.

Cancel the order, phone them and cancel it. Wait a couple of days, drive down to your nearest telscum shop and place an order for ADSL there, be friendly and they will be friendly (normally).

You'd think it doesn't make a difference, but it does ;)

If you haven't already, make sure your exchange is ADSL ready here. As far as I know, according to the ADSL regulations they only have 30 days to complete the installation. You should definately complain about this, I think you complain to ICASA not sure but someone else could probably point you the the right place if I'm wrong, the more complaints registered the better.

If everything is ready and all you're waiting for is a Telkom technician to come round and setup the modem and such maybe consider trying the self install, I've heard it itsn't to hard but haven't done it myself.

Easy Easy. Takes about 2 minutes Max. If you can plug stuff in, you can do it! My grandmother would've even been able to do it.

My order took 3 days. Took some persuasion, but it worked. teraside's Cancel-and-reorder idea sound like it could work.

Thanks for all the responses: I still need them to come and put in the actual copper from the complex's local box to my unit. So at this stage the self-install isn't an option.
