Is it just me or does everyone struggle with Telkom and ADSL installations?

I applied for a new telephone line & ADSL installation a month ago. Finally on Wednesday the guy was supposed to come and install. He phoned the day before to confirm and I was actually thinking that everything may actually run smoothly.

Wednesday arrives and the guy doesn't pitch... Thursday the guy arrives and apologizes with some lame excuse to my girlfriend. Does an analogue installation and tells my girlfriend to phone 'them' regarding the ADSL (%$^$^ moron).

Anyways I flip and phone Telkom, they apologise and say that the technician made a mistake. Tell me they’re gonna escalate and that if I drive to a Telkom direct store that I can speed up the process. So I drive through to the Hellkom direct store and wait in line for a million years. The lady at the stores phones the technician and he says that he’ll be there after 14:00. Surprise, surprise he doesn’t pitch...

So today I phone Telkom again and they escalate again (escalations do $%$ all), they again contact the technician who then tells them they he will come today... It’s now 15:00 and he hasn’t arrived, phoned Telkom again and they’ve $%#$% escalated again but will only be able to help me on Monday.

I’m not by nature a violent person but I strongly feel like camping out at my place on Monday so that I can beat the living #$%#$ out of this guy.

I’m sick of this $%$%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hectically bad luck mate. They will eventually sort it out.

Perhaps you should rather let the ISP (and if your ISP is Telkom, then switch to a different one!) do the line installation. I was very pleased with the way that Mweb handled my ADSL installation. I still did the "self-install" myself, with a bit of help from Mweb call center.

Keep calling 10219 until he pitches...

I must say that my dealings with Telkom thus far have been so so. There are those that really want to help you and go out of their way to do so - then you get those "@holes" that have no clue on what they are doing or of helping you. I suppose you get that in any company these days. ;)

I've had my fair share of issues with Telkom. Like Mweb said the problem was with Telkom, and Telkom said the problem was with the ISP. Eventually it came out that the problem was with Telkom!

If you move your line to your ISP, then they can do all the diagnostics themselves and can provide you with accurate information, unlike Telkom...

Just note that this also has a down side, since you have to move your line to Telkom first, before moving it to your new ISP - if you ever decide to change ISP.
