So, I've recently moved and decided I would like to share my experience with regards to moving my ADSL.

I logged a line move request more than a month before the move. Keep in mind I was due to move on the 5th July.
I did not hear back from Telkom so I decided to go into the local branch on the 25th June. A little late on my part but non the less. I discovered that my request had been received however it was not complete and incorrect. The consultant asked me if I'm moving back to the house I previously was staying at - definitely not. So we created a new order and on the 6th July I was SMS'd with an installation date of the 20th July.

Working as a web developer from home, I tend to rely a lot on my ADSL and only use 3G as a short term backup. On the 7th July I made a few calls and managed to have someone at Telkom look at my order and hear my case. At 12pm that same day, I had an SMS stating my line will be installed between 12:00 and 16:30. Within 30 minutes the technician was there to do the install, however due to a bush in my yard, he could not access the DP. He offered to have Telkom come and cut the bush at their expense however I had someone on site who would be able to sort the bush out the early the next morning. The technician returned the next morning and installed my line. He told me straight that he is not happy with the telephone cabling in the house and ran a new cable from the pole all the way through my house.

I am really blown away by the great service I have received from Telkom.

A good story to tell indeed :) . You do sometimes meet people who are willing to help and resolve issues although it sometimes takes a bit of pushing on your side
