How does the Reset work ?

Is the ip reset every 24hours from when you connect or once a day ??

My proble is at the moment i have a backup running at 1am and the firggen ip changes halfway through....

Some peeps seem to be cutoff from the last time that they connected, and others seem to be cutoff at a specific time regardless of what they were doing before.

When you connect, there is - during the login procedure, the opportunity for your ISP to configure this timeout thingy. From what I've read on the forum, the modem/router actually starts a count down once the login is complete.

So, I suppose the answer to your question is :

Phone your ISP and ask them how and when they arrange the cutoff...

Spoke to saol , they have no clue and have tried holding on telkom line... but to no avail

I'm with Imaginet and my connection gets reset exactly 24hours after the previous connect.

It's quite nice because I made it so my connection gets reset just before midnight so I can use the previous months cap for almost 24 hours in the new month as the usage in a session is debited to the month in which the connection was established.

I am using SOAL. The connection reset is exactly 24 hours (give or take a couple of seconds) after the connection has been made. You will probably want your reset to happen at a more convenient time of the day.

The current timeout is set to 24 hours. Your connection should reset 24 hours after the last connection - this is bound to change from November though.
