Hi guys,

Might sound a bit out of the loop, so apologies...

Can any of you tell me what happens when you reached your cap (lets say on a 3GB limit), do I get throttled? Or do i get hard capped?

I am looking for a ISP who offers 384, with a 3GB cap.. although once the cap has been reached, which will throttle me to (eg. 64) without charging extra if surfing while being throttled.

Can anyone advise a ISP with best/cheapest price?

I am not really too concerned about high speeds, as gaming and the occasional download is what I'll be doing on it.

Thanks in advance

All caps are hard capped. There is no downgrading service.

Telkom and mweb offer caps where you can get some local only access after you have been capped.

OpenWeb offers and Openbrowse service whereby you can only browse websites after you have been capped.

But there is nobody in South Africa... as far as I know... who offers an ADSL downgrade package. All of them cut off your international when you have been capped.

But thats weird though. I'll tell you why

In cpt, my father uses ADSL through mweb. He got 4mbps (with 3GB cap) connection.
Here's the weird thing..
When i'm in CPT, and I go completely bananas on his ADSL and download whatever comes to my mind.. I download over 10gb's easily.. a week later, I can notice his connection is slow.. although, he hasn't been hard-capped.. since he uses that connection for his trading purposes.

The servers are all in Canada/US..

Should I just go through MWEB?

there are a few interneational servers that are still available on local only...

you can see a list of them here...

But I would not count on all of the international being available to you after you are capped. Might have been a fluke... but it is not the norm.
