Hi Guys,

Ok so last week the Internet went down. The telephone line is still up.

Here's the deal:

I'm using one of those MWEB Fon routers (TG589VN V3 (http://www.mweb.co.za/portals/1/pdf/MWEBFonRouter.pdf)) but WebAfrica is my ISP. The line was down for a bit and came back up but the modem refused to authenticate the account. WebAfrica said the line is up but they're not seeing authentication either and logged a ticket with Telkom.

On the modem, the broadband light is on solid but the internet light is off completely.

We then tried with an Afrihost account, same situation. The line is syncing well but there's no Internet. We left the Afrihost account in place and then this morning the Internet light went red. We were able to browse some websites (youtube/facebook etc) but Steam, Teamviewer and Skype did not want to work. When trying to browse some websites the MWEB Email username/Password screen appeared. I haven't had MWEB for a very long time so this lead me to believe it's probably some default page it displays when the authentication has gone wrong.

We then flipped back to the WebAfrica account, rebooted the modem and now the Internet light is just plain off again.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong? This appears to have started alongside a load shedding outage in our area if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Also another quick question.

There are 2 cables, one for telephone and one for ADSL. What would happen if the cables were switched around? If the telephone cable was plugged into the ADSL modem, would it still show as syncing?
