Ok so first of all I play World of Warcraft on the EU servers. I have a lot of problems disconnecting on big fights (where a lot of information is being sent and retrieved in a short time). Normally with an unshaped account I get a latency of around 350ms which is awesome. The only thing that irritates me is getting disconnected whenever there is something big going on.

My modem stats are:

Modem Status

Connection Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 512
Ds Rate (Kbps) 2048
US Margin 13
DS Margin 12
Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 58
US Line Attenuation 31
Peak Cell Rate 1207 cells per sec
CRC Rx Fast 1340
CRC Tx Fast 2
CRC Rx Interleaved 0
CRC Tx Interleaved 0
Path Mode Fast Path

This is about 10 minutes after restarting my router. My CRC errors can go up to 390 000+ after a day or 2. After a lot of reading I found out that they are corrupt data packets too severe to correct. That would make me assume that during big boss fights the info or data im receiving has a lot of irrecoverable errors which forces my line to retransmit and receive that data already sent and received, if that makes sense. Obviously this wont have a huge effect on downloads or anything like that even tho my download speeds spike often. ie: using telkom speed test it normally sits on 206kb/s but can go down to 150-160 for a few seconds then back up to 206+-.

Also speaking to Telkom technicians about changing my line from a 2 meg to a 1 meg and back again I find no drop or increase in my DS Noise Margin. Maybe I am wrong but every website I have read said that an increase or decrease in line speed will affect your Noise margin. ie: at 1024kb I still have a noise margin of around 11-13.

So my question is, what is causing these problems? I know I am like 5km's from the exchange or thereabouts so I know this can cause issues on the line. The vast amount of CRC errors I receive, not to mention when its raining I can get like 50 CRC errors a second, is cause for concern is it not ? I have tried everything possible to find out what the problem is. Disconnected every phone in my house, disconnected the extension from my splitter to the rest of the house's phonelines. Didnt help at all. Ive done pretty much everything short of going to the DSLAM myself and try to figure out what is wrong. Somebody please helep me :P

i think your big issue is CRC errors obviously. if you can reduce this you should have a stable battle in WOW.
Honestly i do not know how you are going to accomplish this by yourself your best bet would be to get telkom out to you but i assume you have already tried this and they said there is nothing wrong with your connection

If i were you i would contact them again and would just point to CRC error constantly till they do something but i would not count on it as you are 5km away from the DSLAM which makes it ( how can i say ) a bugger up
You can try changing your modulation mode from annex A to annex M or vica versa on the router check if that improves your CRC count
Also try changing your encapsulation to G.Lite instead of G.DMT ( just note G.Lite limits you to 2Mb/s line )
Bassically try anything to decrease your CRC errors
maybe somebody else also knows a trick or two this is the best advice i can give

Thanks for the reply man, yeah ive tried everything physically possible from my end. But as you say telkom always thinks as long as the line syncs theres nothing wrong.
