ADSL keep disconnectiong/reconnecting

Hi ive just bought a new router DGN2200v3

But when im playing online games, the network keeps disconnecting i use cables and it suddenly while im playing it shows theres no connections available the a "x" and then with the cable sign with the cirlce rotating then it reconnects again but the problem is that ive already dropped from the game... please help!!

My ISP is MWEB and i am considering changing ISPs which ISP would you recommend for gaming purposes?

Mweb is good for gaming, I would check your IP settings and that your routers DHCP settings are correct. Else google the router and the problem you are having, it could just need a firmware update
 
doubt it's either the router or the ISP

when it disconnects like that, check the ADSL connection on the status of the netgear. it should show you noise etc. if the noise fluctuates at all, your problem (and I think this IS the problem), is there is noise on the line and the ADSL drops every so often. This happened to me quite a few times and had to phone telkom each time to fix. Turned out my house still had one of those old school big prong connectors, and the issue was buildup on the connectors causing the noise. We just clean those now and everything is fine.

In your case you didn't mention if there is anything else on the line (maybe a house alarm?) and if you are running the ADSL line through that thingy (**** I forget what you call it now) that they give you with the line

I have made my IP address n DNS servers static on the router aswell as on the router but the problem still persists...

Hey,

When the disconnect happens, check your routers LED's.

It sounds like it's going in a reboot. Might just be a firmware update thats required or the router/power adapter is going faulty.

Just my 2c ;)
 
The router is new but now ive tried with my older router but same problem... the firmware ive also checked that it is up to date. if it is a reboot it would take longer to reconnect, these disconnections are like 5 secs long, it disconnects then reconnects again.
