Hi all

Had my voice and adsl service installed by telkom yesterday at around 10am. Tried to verify my adsl on the telkom website, but i could not get on there at all, even with their guest account.
Called them and they said it normally takes 24-48 working hours for my line and account to get verified, however i am able to make calls.
Shouldn't this work immediately? My modem is syncing and stuff like that, and apparently they can see me when i try to get onto the network, but i still cannot access any bit on the internet.

Is this normal? It's a totally new line/account as well.

Thanks

Been happening ever since it was installed yesterday.
Also does authentication matter if telkom is not you isp?

Authentication does matter, even if you have another isp. Its called line verification if I remember correctly though.

In other words if you dont verify your line u can only access the telkom site with another ISP.

what router do you have? Im no expert though, but 1 thing which i found very important is that you have included the vpi vci settings otherwise it wont work.

I had to use my cellphone to navigate to the verification site. Based on my experience, it seems that your ADSL is pretty much useless for anything until you verify it. It's a bit of a catch-22. You need internet to verify, but you can't verify without internet. Typical Telkom.

I used my new unverified Telkom account to verify with back in April.

At the off-chance that it might be DNS, check that too. Change to/from Telkom server by letting your router (assuming you have one) automatically select servers OR openDNS (208.67.222.222; 208.67.220.220).

I had my line verified earlier on this week. Was pretty easy. Signed up with mweb and then navigated to the telkom site to verify.
Check that you can ping your router to make sure that the connection from router to pc is fine.
