Is this the same with all other ISP's? Or is that just how long it takes? I know it all depends on telkom, but I ordered my telephone line on Monday, and they are installing it tomorrow.... That's 5 days...

I know I'm probably just being too hasty, but how long did you wait for your ADSL line?

At my previous residence I was with Afrihost, and they took 3 days...

It is out of the ISPs' control as Telkom provide the line. Ergo no ISP can be judged on it...

Yup Agreed, mine took 3 weeks with Afrihost and another person at my office too 3 days , so its totally random and dependant on telkom

got mine in just under 3 weeks and that was about 2 weeks ago now... that was with mweb.

With Mweb, mine took just over 24 hours. And now after transferring it back to Telkom for Afrihost, I am still waiting. 6 Days and counting, yet I am still rolling at 1024. Odd. It's active, but not at 10Mbps.

Not judging anyone mate :) As I stated, I know it's up to telkom, not the ISP's. I was just interested to know how long people waited on average.

Cool... it depends on your area and the available infrastructure. Can be anything from 1 day to infinity! :D

Well so far I've been lucky... 5 days for my phone line, and I'm 500m away from my exchange (which can only be good for my attenuation). Let's hope the odds are ever in my favor :D

Do you know if the previous tenant had a telephone service? This will make your life much easier.

If not then I hope your house has the draw-wire that will enable the Telkom techie to do a quick and easy installation!

I'm afraid not... It looks like my complex is fairly new and I think there's only been one tenant before me. I'm not even sure how the eff it's going to work, it seems like all the cabling is underground and I can't see where my cable is going to come from haha... but I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Good luck... am holding thumbs that all goes well!

Alright, so my line is in and active. I really just hope the ADSL installation goes equally smooth. I've only got 4% adsl availability left in my area, but since I've already got my line and my application is in with MWEB I hope I get priority....
