I have been diligently waiting for this issue to be repaired or receive some kind of communication from Telkom. This has not happened so I am taking to the forums/web to get some help or feedback or at the very least, get someone to notice the problem.

My line suddenly died on the 6th of November. I logged a fault on the website (Telkom) and also contacted Afrihost (they manage my line). A fault was logged and true to form, it took Telkom 48 hours to get someone on the problem. They technician came to my house and established that the problem is elsewhere.

That is the last communication I have received from Telkom. I am receiving no feedback on the status of the issue, how long repairs are going to take or even if they are working on it. Except the form SMS "We are looking at the problem. You will receive out of order rebate. Blah blah".

I have contacted TelkomZA for feedback and I am in contact with Afrihost reps. Any one have any other tips I can try to sort this out? It is extremely frustrating to receive no feedback, no update, no progress.

Edit: The issue has been escalated numerous times (for whatever that is worth)

Wow, I had to wait 4 days for a technician. Check the Telkom experience. Ask for a supervisor via callcenter, if they don't let you through or put you on hour long holds, go to your local telkom store and ask for the manager there.

Thnx for the reply. I will attempt that.

I also made a post on hello peter (http://hellopeter.com/telkom/complaints/unable-to-repair-adsl-line-or-provide-feedback-1560135) which got a response from their social team. Even to the point of trying to call me at 9 at night (obviously didnt answer). You will also see their response on the hello peter complaint. My question is: Great that it is they try to call me and interact, what will it help at 9 in the evening? Do they have technicians out there right now awaiting my call?

I am not bitching about prompt response, Im just wondering even though this may appear effective, will it actually display results? Will they attempt to call me again in the morning? Will they sit back and go "we have passed the buck. we tried to call and he didnt answer" ? Anyway, I will update this as I receive more information, if any!

Quick update:
- Some local box had to be replaced. No communication from Telkom (Afrihost rep got it through contacts)
- telkomZA contacted me and informed me the box was replaced this morning. Line still doesnt sync but I will be trying stuff later today to get it working from my side
- TelkomZA will follow up with me to see if the techie needs to be contacted again to go back and do it better!

Line is back up.

Dealt with a great techie. Knows his stuff, kept me updated, and tested my line to make sure everything is fine!
