Hi,

My adsl has been down for about a week as the router simply refuses to sync. A few days ago i saw that while making a phone call it syncs and then connects properly, but once i put the phone down it disconnects and again is unable to sync.

I've been phoning telkom continuously to send out a techie to fix the obvious line noise but its an endless loop. I had one instance where the techie claims he arrived at my house to fix the problem but i refused to allow him into the property. I supposedly told him this on the phone. lol :wtf:

Any ideas why it would only work while making a phone call?

P.s. It's connected correctly, and i've tried two different filter on the phone. I've even removed all devises except the router, but it still refuses to connect.

..oh and any tips on how to get the techie to actually show up?

try swop the modem as well, test your modem on another line and visa versa.

Sounds like the problem could be 1. in the actual wall socket 2. between the pots and the router - maybe its just a cabke with a bit of dirt in the jacks?

hmmm...This is interesting. I had a problem a while ago when the router would sync and connect perfectly, but as soon as somebody used the phone, it would disconnect and have a freak out. The minute the phone was put back on the hook, everything went back to normal...Was odd, but it randomly stopped one day so idk exactly what was going on. But ya I would also reckon it must be something to do with either the jack or the way your router and phones are all set up.
