I have been having issues with my ADSL for quite some time now. The internet works fine for most of the day until evenings/weekends when it will disconnect for about 10-20 seconds every few minutes which makes browsing unbearable. After back and forth tweets and calls with telkom a technician finally called me and we did some tests and apparently from his side the router seemed faulty (even though it is brand new), over the phone he made me put the router into bridge mode and then setup a broadband PPPOE connection through windows.

Amazingly when I do this the internet is extremely stable and speedtests give consistent results. I then put the old modem router I had an it too was getting the exact same line drops/packet loss problem as my new router. So as of now I only have a stable connection through the broadband via my computer which is a problem because other wireless devices like my phone etc dont have that function so they cant get access. Can anybody please explain to me what is causing the line to drop when the router is in PPPOE but not when I connect through broadband mode? Also if i do a ping test without broadband mode it comes back 100% packet loss with a 'D' rated connection. Through broadband mode i get 0% packet loss and an 'A' grade connection. Any help will be MUCH appreciated

Lower your Adsl line sync speed. Will make line more stable

I have tried that and we lowered in until SNR was >12 but still the same issue occurs. Also surely if the speed is too high why is it stable through broadband pppoe at the same speed?
