I am so sick of Telkom. This is a long message, but please could you share it with all of your SA contacts? I was told by a support technician at my ISP to resort to social media.
For quite some time, I had a 10mbps line through Web Africa. The line was stable and syncing at a speed of around 8.5mbps...no complaints.
Sometime in 2014, the line started intermittently dropping, accompanied by fluctuations in speed, i.e. when it was up. After countless support calls to Web Africa, escalations with Telkom, various useless house calls made by Telkom technicians (when the line by the way flew at speeds previously never seen) nothing was remedied, but of course I had to keep on paying my bill every month. EVENTUALLY, after having being spun a story that the Telkom exchange was too far from my house...which is utter nonsense, it's just down the road...I was eventually told that the 10mbps line in my area was not stable, that it would never be replaced, and that I wouldn't have any issues if I downgraded to a 4mbps line. Much to my dissatisfaction and frustration, we dropped the line speed, only to be stuck in the exact same situation since about April last year. Once again, the line goes up and down and syncs at around only 1mbps. Again, I have made countless support calls to Web Africa, there have been many escalations and promises of getting the situation remedied as quickly as possible, but nothing has actually been done.
What on earth am I supposed to do, no matter what ISP I select, everything is controlled by Telkom, and they just refuse to do anything. Does anyone have any contacts or suggestions?

For future reference, please use paragraphs, they make it a lot easier to read.

I had this exact same issue. Took me months of constant moaning to get it fixed, and has happened probably 3 tones in the past year

I would break the cable and then they install a fresh line just to rule that out, my line had exposed wires and some pretty old tech installed. The cable that came in was untwisted silver coloured wire, they replaced it with new tech and it was way better.

Was that due to the rats chewing on it?

i have the exact problem for 5 months and counting , i am so fed up.

am a telkom client......my line has been unstable for about 3 months.....i have complained so much that my complain is tired.......problem getting worse...

Just to add to all the complaints, i have the exact same problem. my line was perfect for a year and now it's up to shyte, dropping all the time. Have had numerous calls and emails complaints, escalations to telkom with them just closing my fault and saying nothing is wrong.

Eventually a tech came and said the main cable running from the pole to the street box needs to be replaced, and yeah guess what another fault just closed with no resolution.

I'm convinced telkom doesnt give a crap, they are not interested in getting their network fixed, they just care about profits and happy shareholders, yet we keep supporting them, sad to say the least.

Mind posting your line stats?

No that was another related fault, before I had ADSL log time ago they must have tried to extend the jack but they just twisted two pairs together, leaving the copper exposed. And each time it rained the would short and my line would go nuts.
