Hi Guys,

Just need some help here please. I have been struggling since July to migrate my ADSL line from Telkom to Axxess. I had a Telkom ISP account which I cancelled due to Axxess saying they could not migrate the line as there was "Another operator active" and informed me I need to cancel the data portion which I have done in August.

I have tried again and Axxess says that they are getting the same error still that there is another operator active. I have cancelled all data portions on Telkoms side besides for an email address that I still require which is an additional service. Could the email address be causing this error still ?

I have absolutely no idea where to go from here. Could it also be an issue if the ISP and Telkom lines are not registered to the same person? My sister pays for the Telkom line and I pay for the uncapped DSL account.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

Firstly my advice would be to leave your line with Telkom. When something goes wrong you'll be glad you did.

Secondly if you really want to go ahead with it, then rather find out what's going on by contacting Telkom via Facebook/Twitter or this forum (TelkomZA), these people are way more clued up about these things than the call center is.

keep your line with telkom, it's not worth it moving it to the ISP

Alls fair and well, but in terms of ADSL Line Management such as port resets and such, is there a way they can be done online with Telkom or do you *have* to phone them? Was looking into a combo but I guess maybe keeping it with Telkom is the safer option. Surely though there must be some sort of benefit to moving it to an ISP other than management?

Management isn't a benefit. Most people end up calling Telkom anyway. Not worth it for the small cost saving.

I've always thought the same but a colleague of mine lost his router after a storm - he's with Axxess. He called them up, didn't stay on hold for long and reported it. They were at his house in 2 hours and told him his router was borked and told him they won't charge for the call out.
