Has anyone had any experience with moving their telkom adsl line to their isp?

I wanted to move my adsl line rental to axxess to take advantage of their combo deal. Having spoken to telkom you have to fill in cancellation form and submit and then it can take up to 30 days to release into holding pool. Then axxess have 5 days to take it over. I just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with this and if it went smoothly and if telkom did inform them when line was released. I would like to avoid any down time. My worry is if telkom don't contact me and then 5 days expire and I lose my port or at the least don't have adsl while the issue is resolved. I had to wait 2 years when I moved into my house for a port to become available and I don't want to lose it if telkom stuff up.

Has anyone here migrated their line and did the process go smoothly?

Just be careful with this as it often does not go smoothly.
The problem normally arises in the portion where you are in the holding pool. This might cause you to be without service for a few days. This applies to both scenarios - leaving and then also returning at some stage.

With the proposed changes coming to Telkom's ADSL line rental charges, it might be wise to wait a while and assess the situation then.

Telkom has also restricted the ISP's in many ways in how they can manage the line portion. The technical benefits are sparse and the financial ones are dwindling.

This is my own opinion based on my own experience. Others might have had very positive experiences overall.

I moved my line from one non-Telkom ISP to another (iSat). My contract from 2010 said I had to give 60 days notice, but when after 3 weeks I sent a reminder to confirm when they would transfer the line to the Openserve holding pool, they did it right away and iSat who check the pool on a daily basis, took the line over. No downtime in my experience.
