I am experiencing problems with my 384 Kbps ADSL connection. Every now and then my connection hits a "bad spot" where I get time-outs when I browse or my latency jumps in games due to packet loss. This lasts for a 30 to 60 seconds after which everything seems to be fine again. I took the following screenshots of my DLink modem's interface:

I want to start by saying that I do not know much about all this electrical stuff! As you can see from the first screenshot I get CRC errors and HEC. I have a rough idea what CRC is, but what is HEC? I take that it is worse than CRC?
Most of the errors are under the "Remote" heading. Does this mean that the problem is at the exchange / DSLAM rather than with my modem?
I have added the second screenshot for completeness sake. Can anyone tell me if those figures are normal for a 384 Kbps line? All that I have noticed with the second screenshot upon constantly refreshing, is that the "Local SNR margin" varies between 13 and 18.5.
