adsl line rental isp or telkom?

Hi All
Just wanted to find out the following.
I just got a phone line installed and now i want to get adsl. My line is only phone enabled. Nothing has been done in terms of the dsl portion.
Do i need to get telkom to turn it on and have to pay them monthly or can i go directly to mweb for example and do my data and dsl line rental through them without going through telkom?
Example can i now just go and sign up for 4mb line and uncapped data from mweb and they will sort it out for me?(i already have a router)
 
I am a student going on the cheapest.. but yes looking at going capped bundle with afrihost aswell :)

you need to phone telkom to switch on ADSL for your line (takes up to 7 days) once that is done you can switch to whichever ISP you want.

He can order it from the ISP and they enter into a contract with Telkom on his behalf.
