ADSL line speed and rain

Why does my ADSL line speed slow down when it's raining. It will drop to 50% when it rains, but after about an hour or so after it stops, the line speed is back to normal?

Haha, this is quite funny. Does this happen every time it rains? Normal my DSTV goes down when it rains, not the ADSL.

This happened to me when i stayed in PTA, except my line would drop completely till a bit after the sun has come out. Never resolved it. Ive heard similar stories about faulty line insulation though, so that when it rains the water flows into the drainage sewers and the cables short.

This happens to me also and I can get no joy out of Telkom.
Every time it rains quite hard, my line speed drops from 2 mbit to 512k
My local pings go from 35 ave to around 300 ave.
International pings go from 200 odd to 500 odd
My Signal to Noise is 22 dB and y Line attenuation is 9 dB which is not bad.

I had the exact problem, got a telkom technician on site during the rain and they ended up changing the rubber on the telkom connector that joins the house haha.

Problem solved.

I had the same problem a few years back, as mentioned by Fatality having the connector changed resolved my problem.

It is very likely a faulty insulation or joint as has been highlighted.

Not easy to find though so good luck
