I'm currently with Telkom with Adsl line of 4mb, but i'm getting about 1.7mb download - is this normal, based on the specs provided below?

Based on in the forum link to Attenuation test for estimate line speeds - I should get bit higher download speed

Mode: ADSL_2plus
Type: ATM
Status: Up

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (dB): 163 232
Attenuation (dB): 20 39
Output Power (dBm): -512 -150
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 27916 1355
Rate (Kbps): 2048 511
D (interleaver depth): 1 1
Delay (msec): 0.25 0.24

Off the bat i can see that your line syncs @2mb EXATLY. the odds are next to none that it would be so exact without Telkom setting it to sync at that speed.

SNR rates are insane :wtf:
I have a 10mb (syncs at 8mb) with SNR: 12, 10 and Attenuation at 43, 43
my rate is at 8411 (download)

I am not even sure if you get SNR above like 60
Your Attenuation is also nice... quite good actually....

With your stats i cannot see why you can't sync at 4mb.

Your line is syncing at 2mbps, are you sure you are paying for 4mbps? Your line seems great, so there shouldn't be a problem, do you live right next to the exchange?

Call Telkom and ask them to reset the port and/or explain your line is syncing at 2mbps when you are paying for 4mbps.

Yeah call Telkom on 10210 and tell them to sync you at 4MB.

You divide it by 10, some routers don't use a comma/fullstop. Also, why are you syncing at 8? Your stats look nice enough for 10mbps. I am syncing at 10mbps with ~7SNR downstream and 43 db Attentuation.

It's better to have a buffer for those times when it rains and your SNR drops. Makes it more stable.
