ADSL Line Syncing, ISP Connecting, No Traffic

Good day all.

I'm having issues with my newly installed ADSL line. The day it was installed (07/12/2016), it was syncing at 1.5Mbps, but I managed to get online long enough to accept the T&C for my ISP (MWeb). Shortly thereafter, no traffic. Zip. Zero. Nada. Logged a fault, Telkom arrived this morning to attend to the fault, and now the line syncs at 6.3Mbps. But still no traffic.

I have tried my ISP login account, and both Telkom openserv and TelkomASDL guest accounts, and not getting any data throughput whatsoever.

Telkom blames MWEB, MWEB blames Telkom. I'm stuck in the middle slowly losing my temper because all I want is for my line to work.

Any suggestions?

What does your ISP say exactly about Telkom/Openserve being at fault in this regard?, because even without knowing too many details this smells like an ISP's fault.

Odd though that the Telkom guest account does not work, sure you typed it correctly? what did the Openserve Tech do to demonstrate that it's not their fault?

I cannot open any sites whatsoever. Any page I try to open results in a timeout, irrespective of what account is used to sign in (ISP, OpenSErv or TelkomADSL)

Quite sure. I've entered both the Openserv and TelkomADSL account details manually on the router about 4 times today alone.

As for what the Tech did ... um ... nothing. All communication was telephonic:

• The first Telkom callcentre agent told me that I wouldn't get benefit from using the OpenServ test account as it's a default account, and that I *MUST* log in with my ISP account. Wouldn't hear me out when I told here that I was testing connectivity using the OpenServ account.
• The second agent basically treated me like an idiot, and said there was nothing wrong with the line, and that if there was a data problem, who do I think the problem lies with? Said she would log a call, the line would go into testing for 72 hours, and they would dispatch a technician if required (note that there is an existing fault log open for this line). I said "Hells no!", please escalate - there's already a fault open, she said no. Asked to speak to her supervisor, "no, he's busy". I'll hold - puts me through to the customer survey (basically hangs up on me)
• Third agent reset the port, tested the line, upped the link to 10Mbps, and still nothing. Another fault opened.

Not a fan of Telkom at this point ...

Interesting, but what is your ISP saying about your problem?

Also check post #2, maybe that might be the only way it can be Telkom's problem.

ISP says that because there is no data throughput when using the Telkom guest accounts, the problem is on Telkom's side.

Regarding post #2, the line is verified.

Do you have access to another modem?
Or would you be able to test your modem elsewhere?

If it worked for a brief moment and stopped,it could be hardware(even if its brand spanking new,new hardware sometimes fails).
If its not hardware,it can be a line fault.Port resets wont help if its a physical fault.
If other ISP accounts dont work, how could it be an Mweb problem?

A tech needs to come out if its not your modem thats the issue

P.S Telkom can only have one fault open on your line per service.
The previous call center agent should have given you a fault ref,if you didnt get one, they didnt log anything.
When calling in again, insist on this ref number so you can follow up with that

Maybe ask someone who has an ADSL line to test your ISP credentials and see if they work on a different line?
Risky though, make sure that it's someone you trust.

Taking the router to a friends place later to see whether I can connect with their ADSL.
