recently my 4mb adsl line has been upgraded to a 10 mb adsl line , however the webpages takes forever to open , if they do open , the rtesponse dns fails has been driving me nuts. it has been to cumbersome to browse the net. i have tried different browsers with the same effect. please help.

1. Pour yourself a stiff one...
2. Phone Telkom to make 100% sure that you have 10mbps service. This might take a while as this question isn't on their answer sheet. Ask them to reset the port on the line for good measure.
3. Phone your ISP and make 100% sure you're signed up for 10mbps service.
4. Pour another stiff one.
5. Make 100% sure your Router can handle 10mbps.
6. If you are by any chance in Gauteng consider going back to 4mbps as 10mbps have not really been working properly over here for a looooong time.

If you are using the DNS servers auto assigned by your ISP you could try force the following.

dns1: 1.1.1.1
dns2: 8.8.4.4

Your isp might be a wonky pooper when it comes to resolving dns queries.

You can simply check on your DSL router what sync speed you are connected at in order to confirm that your line in fact is syncing right. Also look at the noise/signal values.

The very worse part with your upgrade it might have introduced intermittent packetloss and the only cure for that is to downgrade the line so it gets a better signal/noise ratio or get telkom to investigate your copper quality.

DM me the number an I will check the line on Telkoms system for you.
