Hi Guys
I am turning my problem over to the real proffessionals as Telkom really has no idea. I have received now my fourth reference number for the same problem which has been occuring since last Sunday. Two of those numbers are SAIX FQ numbers and still I have no service.
The problem is this. Browsing international sites seem to be OK however when I throw a ping -t at that site, it pings but every couple of minutes or so there is a request timed out with 100% packet loss. Then I test local sites and the only difference is the ping time is about 350ms faster. i.e. the Time outs are still evident on local sites as well.
If I was just using this account for browsing I probably would not have even noticed it, but I do a lot of work from home and to accomplish this we use a Checkpoint VPN. So with this problem in mind you can probably figure out that the VPN connects for a couple of minutes and then loses connection. After this the VPN will not allow me to reconnect until I reboot my pc, (sometimes I am lucky though). The telkom tech said that this was a security feature of VPN's but I am doubtful of that.
Anyway the bottom line is that my connection keeps dropping and I am losing connection in various programs including, VPN, GTalk, and a couple others which I use regularly. I am convinced that Telkom has changed something but they do not seem to have a clue how to resolve this issue.
Does anyone have any idea what could cause this as I am really getting a bit frustrated with the situation. I am not very clued up with the nitty gritty of networks and do not know where to turn next.
Does anyone have any available for download networking tools that I can show Telkom my issue, as I am using Ping Plotter currently and Telkom don't seem to think that it gives proof of the situation (If anyone wants me to post the ping plotter samples to a website I have saved them and will gladly post them.
BTW. Telkom made me run these commands:
1} netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt (enter)
2} ipconfig /flushdns (enter)
3} netsh winsock reset (enter)
WARNING to everyone, if Telkom asks you to run these commands, think very carefully about it as I had to reinstall every piece of software which uses the internet, especially my VPN software.
Thanks in advance for all your help with this.
