ADSL modem opinions wanted pls !

So I got my Linksys E4200 at last, and damn its a beautifull piece of hardware. Just a pity it doesnt have a ADSL modem component built into it. The main reason I bought this thing, was to replace my now 5 / 6 year old Netgear modem. (DG-834gt)

Seems I have to now buy an additional piece of equipment to do the job my netgear did all in one package. What modem would you guys recommend to run with this Linksys E4200 ? There is some real nasty cheap stuff out there, so obviously I dont want to buy something with all the bells and whistles, because I want to rely on the gigabit ethernet ports + wifi functionality the E4200 offers. Basically I want to handle the ISP authentication part from the Linksys router... So it looks like whatever modem I will be buying, will have to support bridging mode ?

The cheapest MODEM only component I could find was the D-link DSL2500U... Not sure how nasty this piece of equipment is at a premium price of R177 vat included

Last thing I want to do is have my online gaming traffic hop through multiple devices, causing more points of failure / errors / latency etc.

If anyone here has some cool information / advice, I would love to hear it.

D-link DSL2500U is good & cheap, supports bridging & half bridging mode - everything you need.

Nothing wrong with the D-link DSL2500U in fact it's ideal for your purposes. I install them on 24/7 IPCop firewalls and haven't had any problems.
