Hi all,

I know this is in the wrong forum topic but I posted it in the technical forum and had 39 views but no replies. I repost it here cause I know someone here will know the answer.

I wonder if someone can help please. I have a 192 ADSL line and as I only use one pc I have a Mecer ADSL USB modem (not a router). When I connected my modem for the first time, I inserted the Installation disk that came with it and followed the setup procedure. I did not enter any IP addresses or anything just my signup name and password.

I am a little worried cause when I want to connect through my ADSL line it brings the usual connection box but I have to click "Dial". There is a telephone number there which is "0000000". If I click properties, under general tab, it says connect using , "ISDN channel - conexant Accessrunner USB ADSL WAN A".

If I click the Configure button it says line type "64K digital".

I can connect perfectly fine, but my worry is why does it says ISDN and not ADSL? also why does it have a dial up number of 000000?

Any help would be appreciated.

Please help guys

Maybe I should rephrase this to get an answer..............

When YOU connect to YOUR ADSL service provider, does YOUR connection box say "Dial" and a number 000000000 or does it say "Connect" and no number?

connect and no number. try setting up a new account from windows and select the PPPoE option to connect using a broadband modem. then enter your user name and password and you should be set to go. the main thing you need from the mecer disc are the modem drivers and PPPoE drivers. don't use any software that came with it to set up an account

No need to worry.

Windows uses the entries in the .INF file on the setup disk of the WAN device to determine it's properties ... it seems the Mercer tech who did the install disk was either lazy or clueless and merely copied the same settings for a USB ISDN modem.

Causes no harm really except for the odd settings that you have seen.

Shoo, thanks guys! I emailed Mecer, but they didn't bother to reply, so your help is appreciated.
