Ola everyone,

I'm finally getting rid of overpriced mobile data...and going ADSL.

I can get a free D-link DIR-605L router....can that be used as a modem for ADSL? It only has a WAN port with PPoE username/password settings, and doesn't say anything about supported ADSL standards.

Or....Takealot has a special today on a Billion B-7800NX Router....

Cheers!

Hijacking this thread, hopefully OP is done with it.

The current router the WiFi is dropping intermittently, on the ethernet when pinging the router it has delays of up to 2 seconds as well during that time, so assuming it's dying (yes, the ethernet ping tests were done from 2 different PCs with only one connected at a time and the WiFi turned off according to router settings).

Would like to get a router with an AC standard WiFi. Would like it to be compatible with GPON if/when it gets rolled out here next year (City of Cape Town is forcing Frogfoot to trial micro-trenching for 6 months before it is allowed to use it to roll out), so assuming I need EWAN. Have sent a message to Frogfoot to ask as well.

Currently not sure about budget, looking at what's out there first.

Requirements:
Wireless AC
ADSL port (ITU-T?)
RJ45 (EWAN I assume)
Gigabit LAN

Currently looking at:
R2'199 TP-LINK Archer D7 AC1750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router
R1'782 TP-LINK Archer D5 AC1200 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router
R1'360 TP-LINK ARCHER D2 AC750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router

I have 4 devices with AC support, 11 without on WiFi, currently leaning towards the archer d5 ac1200.

Thanks for any help.
J
