ADSL modem router wiring up options

Can anyone please assist with the following minor issue:

My PC is upstairs from where the main Telkom line is situated (less than 8 metres distance). Another PC is in the same room as the main Telkom point and will also use the ADSL connection from time to time and sometimes at the same time I will be using my PC connected to the net.

I want to know if the Netgear DGN2200 can be configured in the following way -

Can the modem be wired up so that my PC can use the ADSL line without switching the other PC on and vise versa or will each PC be able to use the ADSL line without issue just by switching the modem on?

Sorry if it is a dumb question, never had any experience with ADSL or an ADSL modem before.

Unless you have a very strange non standard setup, any device (pc's, tablets, consoles and phone) connected to the router(modem) via an ethernet cable or wifi should be able to use the internet without depending on another device being switched on or available.

The modem /router (Netgear DGN2200) does the connection to the internet and it has 4 ports for wired computers and a wireless connection that you can connect a few computers to.( no need to change any settings if the PCs are running windows just plug them in to the ethernet ports and they will work )
The user name and password is put in to the DGN2200 and that makes the connection to the internet.
